If you’re buying a new electrical item, we will recycle your old one for free wehn it is returned to one of our stores.

Why recycle?
Unwanted electrical equipment is the UKs fastest growing type of waste.
Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and the environment.  If you do not recycle, electrical equipment will end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination – harming wildlife and also human health.

We are pleased to offer our customers the chance to recycle their old electrical items.

Our WEEE Take Back Scheme
Distributors supplying new EEE (Electrical and Electronic Equipment) have to ensure that WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) from private households can be returned to them free of charge on a one for one, like for like basis. The WEEE returned should be of equivalent type to and should fulfil the same function as the new EEE purchased.  WEEE is defined as being end-of-life equipment falling under the WEEE directive. We comply with this directive.

For example if you purchase a new Amplifier from us, you may bring your old amplifier to one of our stores where we will accept it and dispose of it for you entirely free of charge. The WEEE item you return to us does not need to have been purchased from us originally, nor does it need to be identical to your new EEE, but it must be an equivalent or serve a similar purpose. Smaller items, purchased from our Web Site may be returned to us by post, at your cost, and we will then arrange for proper free disposal for you.

Please also note that this is a free service that allows you to dispose of your old electrical equipment whilst complying with all current regulations.  It is NOT related in any way to trading your old gear in against your new purchase, and is NOT part of our second hand/trade in procedure.  We would naturally recommend that as this is a disposal service for old/non-working equipment.

 If your old gear works but you want to upgrade it, just bring it in and let us give you a trade-in value for it against something new.

To remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, it is now marked with a crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. Please do not throw any electrical equipment, including those marked with this symbol in your bin.

General Informaion - What is WEEE?
The Waste Electrical or Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires countries to maximise separate collection and environmentally friendly processing of these items.  In the UK, distributors (including retailers) must provide a system which allows all customers buying new electrical equipment the opportunity to recycle their old items free of charge. Those establishing their own take-back scheme must as a minimum offer all customers buying new electrical equipment free take back of their old electricals on a like-for-like basis.
