Local Bands
We are working on a complete revamp of our local bands section and will shortly be devoting an entirely new web site to just this! It's a really great opportunity for you to promote yourself and your gigs and it's all entirely free, thanks to your local IIMusic Stores. Keep checking back for more details and for the launch date. You will need to register to use the site, but after that you're in control of your own presentation. It's new, it's different and it's really effective promotion for you.
Local Bands CDs
We offer a completely commission free sales service in store for local bands who have CDs for sale. If you have an album, a single, an EP or any recorded material that you would like us to sell on your behalf, please let us know and we can help promote you to our customers.
Local Band Promotion, Flyers, Posters
Got flyers or a poster for an upcoming gig? Let us know and we can distribute them in store to our customers, giving you exposure to a wide demographic of local people who could be interested in your band.
Local Gigs
We periodically arrange local gigs where we provide a venue and promotion, sponsoring the gig giving local bands the opportunity to play in venues which they may otherwise be unable to play. On occasions we have well known signed artists playing at these gigs, and welcome support from local bands looking for a bit of free publicity and promotion.
Local Bands Directory:
Here are some great local bands, in no particular order!
Altered Sky

Formed early in 2010, Central Scotland based Altered Sky was originally arranged for session work with material written by Ana Nowosielska. After two or three practices, however, the 5-some (Ana, Amy, Ross, Neil and Richard) realised a certain chemistry in playing together and decided to establish AlteredSky as a full-time band. All members having experience playing in live bands in the past, they knew what they were up against from the start and, throwing their combined weight into organising the outfit swiftly and professionally, have managed to assert their goals and set about achieving them. Each member brings a completely different style to the metaphorical table; ranging from mellow blues/rock to punk and metal to progressive rock.
After its founding and first gig in March 2010, Altered Sky continues to grow. The band's aptitude for learning is evident in their greatly developed live performance and their maturing song writing style. The energetic 5-piece released their debut EP - entitled "We Can't Stand the Silence" - in the summer to postive reception.

Caroline Gilmour

Caroline Gilmour is a singer and songwriter based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Originally from a small mining village called Newtongrange, she moved to the bright lights of Edinburgh in 2002 where she first got involved in the local music scene.
She was front woman of local Edinburgh rock band The Meadows until 2006 when the band went their separate ways. Caroline continued to focus on writing material and experimented with different genres, including providing vocal samples for Camel Audio's award winning Alchemy sample manipulation synth. Caroline teamed up with former Meadows guitarist Scott Clark in 2007, and between them, completed an album of original material called The Thorntree Sessions.
Caroline began her solo career in March 2008 and since then has played gigs at numerous bars and clubs in Edinburgh and Glasgow such as The Box, Nice n' Sleazy's, The Lot, The Citrus Club, Sneaky Pete's supporting The Hussys and Paisley Unplugged . She recorded her first solo album, 'Someday' at Windmill Sound studios in conjunction with producer Daniel Davis. The album was released in February 2009 with a launch party at The Voodoo Rooms, Edinburgh.
Caroline made her Edinburgh Festival debut in August 2009 at St Brides Acoustic Music Centre, performing tracks from her debut album. This was followed by a short recording session with top Glasgow producer Jamie Duffin (who is also working with Leon Jackson, former X factor winner and Jill Jackon, former Speedway frontwoman) to experiment with a new sound. Caroline is now working with Jamie on a full album, with final mastering to be completed by Wet Wet Wet guitarist Graeme Duffin (Jamie's father). The album is expected to be released in March 2011.
2010 was a relatively quiet year for Caroline due to recording her new album, but she has still managed to fit in a small number of gigs, most notably the new ladies weekend music festival event LezGoCamping (now called GoGo) in Essex in August on the same bill as Horse, Grey Matter and Voodoo Hussy. She was featured live on Pulse Community Radio in December 2010 and has a number of gigs lined up for 2011.
Caroline was recently awarded a runner up status in the We Are Listening songwriting contest, and is actively seeking a songwriting and recording deal.

Fireproof Match

Fireproof Match is a tight three-piece band fronted by Kirsty McCafferty on guitar, daughter of Tantrum, guitarist with the prominent 80s Glasgow band 'The Almighty'. Completing the line-up are Alistair and Euan Macdonald on drums and bass respectively. All three band members sing live to recreate the vocal harmony that characterises their first EP ‘This Broken Sky’. In September 2009 they chose four self-penned songs and headed for the Foundry Music Lab in Motherwell to record with Sandy Jones, sound engineer for Wet Wet Wet. Showcasing the completed work on websites and podcasts has provided wildly enthusiastic feedback for the marriage of surreal lyrics with soaring melodies on ‘This Broken Sky’. Fireproof Match are now seeking to build on gig experience from band showcases, local radio appearances (Lieth FM and East Coast FM), and support slots (notably La Paz and The Pharmacy) by bringing their brand of distinctive riffs, distorted chords and inventive rhythm section to a wider audience

The Last Trees

The Last Tree was formed by Dode Muir back in 1998 while he was living in Madrid. He spent three years touring solo around Spain performing original songs all written by himself. Many venues, from bars to Rock Festivals in Madrid, Salamanca and Alicante all hosted The Last Tree on many occasions. The name “The Last Trees” is to inspire awareness of global warming within our precious Earth.
Over the years the band has performed along with ex-Black Sabbath lead guitarist Pete Oliver and the Spanish band Medina Azahara.
Upon moving to Scotland in 2001, the band expanded to become a regular Trio incorporating a 12 string guitar, drums and bass, now playing venues around Scotland, with regular appearances around Edinburgh and Glasgow. In 2006, Dode won the “Brian Eno” prize for his song “Child of the moon.”
